The Heart of The Metal Effect
Our story didn’t start in a studio, but in the workshop. After years spent in Australia, the pull of family brought us back home to the rugged beauty of Central Otago. Nigel, a General Engineer by trade, always had a hidden passion for the artistic side of steel. What started as a spark of creativity eventually forged into The Metal Effect.
Today, we operate at the intersection of grit and grace. While we still run our commercial profiling business, The Metal Effect allows us to push the boundaries of what steel can do—turning raw, industrial strength into timeless pieces for your home and landscape.
Built to Last: The Highlander Fire
If there is one thing that defines us, it’s the Highlander Fire. Our signature piece has been warming Kiwi backyards for years. There is nothing more rewarding than hearing from clients a decade later telling us their Highlander is still the centerpiece of their outdoor living. We don't believe in "disposable" culture; we pride ourselves on making products that truly stand the test of time.
